Create a Web Page with Dreamweaver

  1. Decide on a topic for the web page. If you can't think of a topic, pick an interesting chapter of the Bible, such as Genesis 1, to illustrate.

  2. Create a new folder for your web page your Flash drive using a short name matching your topic in all lowercase letters with no spaces.

  3. Using Dreamweaver, create a new web page. Save it in the new folder. (The file name should end in .html and be in all lowercase letters with no spaces)

  4. Add the content for the page. Be sure to include the following:

    • A centered title at the top of the page
    • A non-white page background color
    • An appropriate document title for the window frame (instead of Untitled Document)
    • At least four paragraphs of text, each two lines long or more (eg. a couple of verses)
(You can find the text for chapters of the Bible at http://www.biblegateway.com/)
    • At least five pictures
(You can find pictures at http://www.google.com/ - click on Images)

NOTE: Be sure you put the pictures in the same folder where the web page itself is stored! Otherwise you pictures will not show up online when you publish your web page in Internet.

    • Change the color of at least three key words or phrases in the text using different colors.
    • At least one link to some other page on Internet
    • An email link to your BUBBS email

  5. Save your page and exit Dreamweaver.

Publish the Web Page on Internet with BUBBS

You can publish your web page to the world either using BUBBS or a free web hosting system like GeoCities. To use BUBBS, follow these instructions:

  1. Access your BUBBS account using FirstClass.

  2. From the Desktop, double click on Web Publishing.

  3. In the right-hand window pane, right-click and select New Folder. Click Standard Folder and OK.

  4. In the left-hand window pane, right-click on the new folder, and select Properties. Change the folder name to the name you used to save your page and its pictures.

  5. In the left-hand window pane, click on the new folder. Upload the web page and each picture by right-clicking in the right window pane and selecting Upload.

  6. Make sure the published page works correctly by using a web browser and surfing to the address matching this pattern: www.bubbs.biola.edu/~your.name/folder/filename.html
(use your own BUBBS name, and the folder and file names of your web page).

NOTE: Do not remove any of the files for this lab from BUBBS until you have received your grade.

Submit the Page

Use the Drop Box to submit the URL address of your web page. Do not submit any files, only the link.

Fill in the fields for your Name (e.g. John Smith), the Assignment (e.g. Lab 10 Thousand) and the URL, which you should copy from the address line of your browser:
